Last week's Dynamite featured Swerve Strickland in a backstage interview with WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross. Veteran Jim Cornette didn't find the segment amusing at all.
Strickland and Bryan Danielson are about to lock horns for the AEW World Championship at All In on August 25, 2024. Before their epic clash at Wembley Stadium, both stars had sit-down interviews with the legendary Jim Ross. The champion's interview took place on the August 7 episode of Dynamite, while the challenger's was featured on the August 10 edition of Collision.
On episode 355 of his Drive-Thru podcast, Jim Cornette shared his thoughts on Strickland's chat with Jim Ross. He felt it was boring and even questioned the involvement of JR in the segment.
"Well, speaking of the gutter, we got to the 9 o'clock hour, and they're trying to get ratings. So they try to get ratings by having Jim Ross sit down with Swerve Strickland about Bryan Danielson and Brian I'll let you expand on this. Was this the most boring sit-down interview from an interviewer and interviewee and an overall viewer perspective that you have ever seen? Strickland is either a pleasant heel or a disinterested babyface. What the f*** was going on here?" [0:00 - 0:38]
Bully Ray's comments on Swerve Strickland's segment on Dynamite
While Jim Cornette claimed that Swerve Strickland's sit-down interview with Jim Ross on Dynamite was meaningless, Bully Ray felt otherwise. Ray said the angle added to Strickland's credibility as World Champion.
The tag team wrestling legend lauded Tony Khan for putting a proper spotlight on The Realest as All Elite Wrestling's World Champion. It would be interesting to see whether Strickland would be able to retain his title at Wembley Stadium and force Bryan Danielson to retire.
