AEW has been involved in some controversy with another promotion as of late. However, it does not seem like the Jacksonville-based promotion is interested in mending fences.
Much of AEW's problem with GCW has to do with Ricky Starks. The Absolute One recently appeared at a GCW event and aired his frustration over his poor booking. He also mentioned that he was tired of sitting idly at home and hinted that he was going to take matters into his own hands.
As a result, Starks was booked to face Matt Cardona at an upcoming GCW show. However, All Elite Wrestling pulled Starks from the show and a replacement had to be named. In a surprising turn of events, Matt Cardona appeared on the December 5th episode of ROH and confronted Chris Jericho. These two men will now lock horns for the ROH World Championship at Final Battle.
This appearance by Matt Cardona raised a lot of eyebrows as many people believed that this was All Elite Wrestling's way of mending fences with GCW. When asked about the same on his Fightful Q&A podcast, Sean Ross Sapp simply stated that All Elite Wrestling doesn't care about mending fences with GCW.

Brett Lauderdale teased potential collaborations between AEW and GCW
Final Battle is shaping up to be an exciting show. The event is set to take place at the iconic Hammerstein Ballroom. Alongside the ROH World Championship match, two more matches have been announced for the show as well.
Red Velvet will defend her ROH Women's World Television Championship against Leyla Hirsch and The Sons of Texas will defend their ROH World Tag Team Championship against The Righteous in a Texas Bullrope match.
Even the owner of GCW is excited about the show. Sean Ross Sapp shared a statement from Brett Lauderdale on social media where he expressed excitement about Final Battle. He also teased future collaborations between All Elite Wrestling and GCW.
“I’m Excited for Matt and excited for the fans. It will be a fun atmosphere at The Hammerstein Ballroom for AEW and I think things may have just gotten a little more interesting for GCW’s return to The Hammerstein Ballroom on January 19th…”
It will be interesting to see if Matt Cardona will be able to defeat Chris Jericho at Final Battle.
