WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray has made a bold claim regarding Jon Moxley's current run in All Elite Wrestling. The Purveyor of Violence is the current AEW World Champion.
Jon Moxley has taken over AEW in the past few months. The former WWE Champion has gathered his Death Riders (Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, PAC, and Marina Shafir) to terrorize the Jacksonville-based promotion. However, Bully Ray has claimed that the Tony Khan-led creative team made a big mistake with Moxley's current character.
In a recent edition of the Busted Open podcast, Bully Ray stated that the former WWE Champion should have been a babyface going against a massive heel in this storyline instead of being the one to ''bury'' All Elite Wrestling.
"I wish Jon Moxley had the heel to work with; where Jon could be the face of the place. The babyface that people want in AEW. Nobody wants to hate Jon Moxley. He's the guy who spills his blood for the company; he busts his a**. The whole Moxley heel crew, I don't think it's clicking for many people and is sure not clicking for me. Jon needs to be the guy that fights for AEW. Jon can't be the guy that's trying to bury AEW because he doesn't approve of what AEW is," he said.
Top WWE star blasted, compared to Winnie the Pooh RIGHT HERE
The veteran further questioned why he should believe in All Elite Wrestling if Moxley, who's the face of the promotion, doesn't approve of the current state of the Jacksonville-based company.
"If Jon Moxley doesn't approve of what AEW is right now or what it's turned into, why should I believe in AEW? At the end of the day, I'm a Jon Moxley fan. He was a babyface. I liked him. Now he's gone down a different path; a path that he feels is justified, and he's telling me that the place is a** backwards; he's telling me the place needs a change. Why should I believe him? It should be somebody else," he added. [16:13-17:45]
Jon Moxley won the AEW World Championship at WrestleDream 2024
After returning to AEW TV in August following a short break, The Purveyor of Violence's main target was none other than his former best friend, Bryan Danielson. Moxley kicked The American Dragon out of the Blackpool Combat Club and changed the faction's name to The Death Riders.
At Dynamite: Grand Slam, Moxley took away Darby Allin's shot at the AEW World Title and went on to face Bryan Danielson for the gold at WrestleDream. At the PPV, The Death Riders leader brutalized Danielson. He defeated Bryan to become the new world champion, ending The American Dragon's full-time run in the process.
We will have to wait and see who takes down the former WWE star to become the AEW World Champion in the coming months.
