AEW recently made a massive announcement regarding Sammy Guevara. The Spanish God took to X (formerly Twitter) to react to it.
Sammy Guevara is one of the fastest-rising stars in AEW. He was always considered one of the pillars of the company and has been involved in several high-profile matches throughout his career. Guevara made a name for himself by taking huge risks during his matches. His daredevil antics garnered him both criticism and praise from the fans.
Currently, Guevara has become a regular feature on ROH where he is one-half of the reigning ROH World Tag Team Champions along with Dustin Rhodes. The Spanish God also competes on Collision and Dynamite regularly. His last match on Dynamite took place on the 11th September episode where he lost to Ricochet. Guevara is set to make his return to Dynamite this Wednesday.
AEW announced that Guevara will face Shelton Benjamin this week on Dynamite. The Spanish God reacted to the announcement on social media and wrote:
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
"Shelton vs Guevara this Wednesday!"
Sammy Guevara is coming off a major injury scare
As mentioned above, Sammy Guevara is known for taking risks in the ring. Most times those gambles pay off and the attack looks cool but there are times when high-flying moves result in a wrestler getting seriously hurt.
On the 2nd October 2024 episode of Collision, Guevara faced off against Serpentico in a singles match. During the match, The Spanish God went for a cutter off the top rope but missed and landed on his head. The match was called off and awarded to Serpentico. This was due to the company following concussion protocol.
Since then, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that Guevara was once again cleared to wrestle following his concussion.
It's good to see that Guevara is fine to wrestle again and will step back into the ring with a veteran like Shelton Benjamin this week.
