AEW has made a huge announcement regarding Mercedes Mone in the lead-up to Beach Break 2024.

After leaving WWE, Mercedes Mone has solidified herself as one of the biggest female stars on the planet. She went to NJPW where she won the IWGP Women's Championship. Sadly, an injury derailed her time in the company and put her out of action for several months.

Mercedes made her much-anticipated AEW debut at Dynamite Big Business. Since then, her career in Tony Khan's promotion has quickly taken off. She immediately challenged and won the TBS Championship from Kris Statlander and this past weekend defeated Stephanie Vaquer in a title vs. title match at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door III and won the NJPW Strong Women's Championship.

Tonight, AEW is planning a special edition of Dynamite called Beach Break and in lieu of Mercedes Mone's big win at Forbidden, the promotion has announced that there will be a special celebration in her honor.

What was the backstage reaction to Mercedes Mone's match at Forbidden Door

At AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, Mercedes Mone and Stephanie Vaquer clashed in an epic title vs. title contest. The match was hard fought and the fans were heavily involved in the bout as they got behind the then-NJPW Strong Champion.

PWInsider reported that the match between Mone and Vaquer received praise backstage. Mercedes' goal for this match was to get the crowd behind Vaquer and it worked brilliantly as the fans were talking smack about Mercedes' home city of Boston.

Following the match, Britt Baker made her return and stared down the TBS and NJPW Strong Champion. We will have to wait and see if the two women will come face-to-face tonight.
