While Mercedes Moné is one of the biggest names in AEW right now, a recent comment by her about having creative control has brought her under a lot of scrutiny. According to WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long, this is a significant flaw on Tony Khan's part.
Mercedes was recently asked about her storylines in AEW in an interview with TMZ Sports, as well as whether she had any say in the storylines she was involved in. Surprisingly, she stated that she worked closely enough with Tony Khan to have creative control over her own work.
Speaking on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine hosted by Mac Davis, WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long vehemently expressed his disapproval. He stated:
"No. Not at all. And the reason I say that is because once you've got creative control, you basically think about nobody but yourself. And that's not how it's supposed to be, you gotta think about all of your talent. It's good to include yourself, but you gotta hold another bunch of people, girls guys back there that are looking for the same thing. So I think putting a wrestler in charge of creative control is, that's just not the right thing to do." [11:33 onwards]

The AEW star recently talked about being booed by fans
While many may see being booed by the audience out of nowhere as an insult, Mercedes Moné is apparently quite fine with it.
In a recent interview with All Elite Krew Newsletter, the TBS champion commented on being booed by the fans during her confrontation with Britt Baker:
“I won't lie when the chants started - it had me giggling, silly sillies! Don't you know it's ME who puts the Boss in Boston! I love New York, though, so I'll let y'all paint me in the villain era - that's one thing I love about wrestling: the fans are quick to turn on you, and yet somehow that energy always ends up hyping me up more, so please, carry on, I do enjoy it!”
As of now, it remains to be seen how the rest of Mercedes' run in AEW pans out.
