Welcome to today's edition of Sportskeeda Wrestling's New & Rumor Roundup. Tony Khan just made a special announcement regarding Ricochet. A massive former champion's contract with AEW has ended and he could be headed to WWE. Meanwhile, a top AEW star suffered an injury which could hinder his chances in the Continental Classic tournament. So without ado, let's begin.
#4. Penta El Zero Miedo is now a free agent and has been in contact with WWE
It was long reported that the Lucha Bros. contract with AEW was coming to an end. There was also speculation that the duo could be headed to WWE next. However, Tony Khan reportedly tried to stop that from happening by adding additional injury time to Rey Fenix's contract.
Is this man the funniest man in wrestling?
Fightful Select is now reporting that Penta's contract with the promotion has effectively ended and he is now a free agent. However, that is seemingly not the case for Rey Fenix. It was also reported that Penta had been in contact with WWE. The fans are wondering if Triple H's creative team would be able to utilize Penta as a singles competitor or would the two come in together as a team.
#3. Tony Khan announces a massive match for Ricochet on upcoming show
Ricochet's run in AEW has gotten off to a pretty good start. He is currently in pursuit of his first title in the company. Ricochet is part of the Continental Classic and winning this tournament will earn him his first title. However, he has not gotten off to a good start after a tough loss to Claudio Castagnoli in his opening match.
Tony Khan has now announced that Ricochet will face Brody King in a Gold League match at Winter is Coming on December 11.
"Wednesday, Dec. 11 Kansas City, MO TBS, 8pm ET/7pm CT Wednesday Night #AEWDynamite: Winter is Coming Continental Classic Gold League @KingRicochet vs. @Brodyxking Wed. 12/11, in Kansas City, in AEW C2 Gold League, for the first time ever, Ricochet will battle Big Bad Brody King," Khan wrote.
#2. Juice Robinson suffered an injury during his match on Collision
Juice Robinson is also part of the Continental Classic tournament. On this week's episode of AEW Collision, Will Ospreay faced off against Robinson and came out on top. However, it appears as if Robinson suffered an injury during the match.
According to reports from Fightful Select, Juice Robinson was spotted at the Wrestlecade convention in crutches. However, it is not known what injury the AEW star has suffered or the severity of it. A severe injury could affect his chances of continuing any further in the Continental Classic tournament.
#1. Max Caster threatened to sue Swerve Strickland after a recent backstage assault
Swerve Strickland hasn't been in the best of moods since his recent loss to Bobby Lashley at Full Gear 2024. Hence, when Max Caster confronted him backstage last week, the former AEW World Champion brutally assaulted him.
This week on Collision, Caster addressed the backstage assault during an interview with Lexy Nair and said that he could've sued Swerve Strickland for putting his hands on him but he wasn't going to do that. Instead, he challenged him to match next week on Dynamite.
“You know, Swerve has been acting crazy. He assaulted me, the best wrestler alive. He ripped my jacket. I mean I could sue that guy but that is not real rap. I am not going to do that but Swerve, look into my eyes. You don't deserve the opportunities you have gotten here in AEW. People like you don't deserve that. But here I am, giving this gold toothed bi**h the chance of a lifetime to go eye to eye with the best wrestler alive. Swerve, I want you this Wednesday on Dynamite,” he said. [0:06 - 0:40]
It will be interesting to see if Max Caster will be able to pick up the biggest singles win of his career against Swerve Strickland next week on Dynamite.
