Will Ospreay quickly became a fan favorite among the AEW faithful due to his high-octane wrestling style. However, many, including Tony Schiavone, have asked the British star to tone it down in order to stay safe.

Ospreay wrestled against his former friend, Kyle Fletcher, in a brutal match at AEW Full Gear 2024. The Aerial Assassin has few peers when it comes to match quality at pay-per-views, but Fletcher managed to vanquish him at the Prudential Center.

At one point in the match, Fletcher hit Ospreay with a wince-inducing jumping Tombstone Piledriver on the steel steps at ringside. AEW commentator Tony Schiavone addressed the spot on the latest episode of his What Happened When podcast, claiming that he'd asked the 31-year-old to tone down his style many times:

"I wish I'd have known they were gonna try that because I'd have gone, 'No! For crying out loud, no.' I've told Will [Ospreay] many times, I've said, 'You can just come down maybe 5%, 10%, and your matches will still be great.' And he'd go, 'Bruv I don't know how to do that.' And he doesn't. He just does not know how to do that." [H/T: WrestleTalk]

AEW's Jim Ross says Will Ospreay spot "scared the sh*t" out of him

Tony Schiavone wasn't the only one who gasped when Kyle Fletcher hit Will Ospreay with the jumping Tombstone Piledriver on the steel steps. The spot also scared legendary commentator Jim Ross.

Ross knows exactly how talented Will Ospreay is, and he recently discussed why the 31-year-old's style is so scary, especially from a talent relations perspective. Speaking on his Grilling JR podcast, the legend said that he was concerned about Ospreay and Fletcher being able to walk away after their brutal bout:

"That scared the sh*t out of me, boy. It really did. That spot scared the hell out of me. I thought there's no way both these dudes are going to walk away from this, okay, but they did. I guess that's the thing about youth!''

Fletcher ended up besting his former stablemate with a brainbuster on the top turnbuckle. The Australian star has established himself as a major villain in All Elite Wrestling, but whether The Aerial Assassin will come looking for revenge remains to be seen.
