Buddy Matthews is out for revenge, and AEW President Tony Khan has announced that he'll get his shot this Wednesday. The House of Black member is set to square off with Will Ospreay on tomorrow's Dynamite.
Matthews is primarily a tag team specialist, but he's also proven extremely dangerous in singles competition. His House of Black stablemate Brody King ran the gauntlet in the recently concluded Continental Classic tournament, which he was unable to win.
Brody's final defeat in the tournament came at the hands of Will Ospreay on the special Dynamite on 34th Street at the Hammerstein Ballroom. The episode aired on Christmas Day, making the loss especially disappointing for King.
Buddy Matthews will look to get a measure of revenge over The Aerial Assassin tomorrow night. Tony Khan took to X/Twitter today and made the match official, as seen below:
"TOMORROW, 1/8 Clarksville, TN Wednesday Night #AEWDynamite 8pm ET/7pm CT, TBS + Max @SNM_Buddy vs @WillOspreay Buddy Matthews aims for revenge vs. the man who eliminated his partner from the C2 on Christmas: Will Ospreay! Buddy vs Ospreay! Don’t miss AEW on TBS + Max TOMORROW!"
This week's AEW Dynamite is stacked with star power
Tomorrow's episode of Dynamite will feature a Casino Gauntlet match, with the winner getting a shot at Jon Moxley's AEW World Championship at the Maximum Carnage special next week. However, there's far more in store for the Wednesday night show.
MJF has been advertised to appear and seems to be on the warpath. Additionally, Kenny Omega will make his long-awaited return to the flagship show. The Best Bout Machine has already made his intentions clear: he's returning to All Elite Wrestling to retake his throne.
This week's show will provide a major build to next week's Dynamite: Maximum Carnage, where Jon Moxley will attempt to defend his World Championship in his hometown. Whether The Purveyor of Violence can retain his title remains to be seen.
