A new report on AEW Shockwave has just been released, and this has brushed on the possibility of the promotion landing their third weekly show on WWE's former network partner. This would be FOX.

A few months ago, the promotion trademarked "Shockwave," and it was revealed later that this could be the potential name of a new weekly show of theirs. However, as of now, they are still in the process of securing a network deal for the show.

On the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez discussed the latest buzz around the show. They talked about how AEW was in talks with FOX, but they believed that there would have been better progress had their ratings have stayed higher. As of two months ago, the show is still being shopped around.

"I mean, you know, the thing like, obviously, that there were talks with FOX and AEW, numbers fell. And, I mean, that's the key. I mean, it's like, if their numbers had stayed stronger, or, you know, I think that they would have a lot better shot getting on FOX because there are several nights a week where an AEW show could do an AEW show from a year ago, or even six months ago, could have done better than FOX does on those nights. And there are still nights that you could do that, but it's not as much of a sure thing." [H/T- WrestlingInc.]

It was also noted how Warner Bros. Discovery has only pushed for two weekly shows, so to bring in Shockwave, AEW will need to find another network.

Tony Khan confirms the fate of AEW Rampage

Amid rumors that Shockwave was coming in as the promotion's third weekly show, there were reports that this meant that Rampage would be getting the boot.

A couple of days ago, during the tapings for the upcoming episode of Dynamite, Tony Khan revealed that Rampage would be coming to a close, and its last episode was set to air this Friday. With Shockwave not being confirmed yet, this means that the promotion will stick to running two weekly shows - Dynamite on Wednesdays and Collision on Saturdays.

While the other things remains a speculation, fans can continue to stay tuned to four hours of wrestling from the Tony Khan-led promotion. It remains to be seen if a third show will be introduced in 2025.
