Adam Copeland (fka Edge) made an explosive return to AEW at Worlds End 2024 last month. The 51-year-old legend recently talked about his desire to wrestle at a famous pro wrestling venue.
The Rated-R Superstar has his sights set on Jon Moxley and The Death Riders and will go to war with the violent faction alongside his friends and partners, Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler, on Dynamite: Fight for the Fallen on New Year's Day. Despite being a living legend with a wealth of experience and an undeniably decorated career, Copeland seemingly has more ground to break in the pro wrestling industry, and recently revealed a major item on his current bucket list.
During an interview with Uproxx, the former AEW TNT Champion stated his wish to compete in the revered Arena Mexico, a venue best known for hosting wrestling events produced by CMLL. Copeland also recalled having visited the arena as a fan at some point in the past when he had been a world champion, and watching the show while disguised in a lucha mask.
"I'd love to wrestle in Arena México," Copeland said. "Never worked there for CMLL or anything like that, so I think that would be great. I've been [there] as a fan, at the time I was world champ... So, I went to this show with a lucha mask on and I sat in the third row and watched the entire show." [H/T - WrestlingInc.]
A top AEW star just called one of his colleagues 'spoiled' and 'narcissistic' HERE.
It should be noted that All Elite Wrestling cultivated a working partnership with CMLL last year, which saw talent from the company like Mistico and Volador Jr. compete on All Elite television, and also witnessed top names from the Jacksonville-based promotion, including The BCC, Willow Nightingale, Toni Storm and more, wrestling in the "cathedral of lucha libre" in Mexico City.
Adam Copeland has big plans in AEW
Adam Copeland is without a doubt one of the most successful pro wrestlers of all time, with an enviable list of accomplishments to his name. However, The Ultimate Opportunist is evidently hungry for more, as was evident from his remarks at the Worlds End 2024 media scrum.
Copeland stated that he intended to take the AEW World Championship from Jon Moxley, and also expressed interest in pursuing the World Trios Titles - currently in possession of The Death Riders as well - alongside FTR.
"If you can think of a goal, that's what we're going after. They should be tag team champions, I think we should win the Trios Championships, I'm going after the [AEW] World Heavyweight Championship. (...) So my plan is to go after Jon Moxley in a match that we've never seen before between two guys who are at the top of their field and go out there and do what we do."
It remains to be seen if Rated-FTR will be able to overcome the former Blackpool Combat Club members this week on Dynamite.
