The former three-time AEW World Tag Team Champions, The Young Bucks, refused to show up at a recent major event. The duo is set for a big match this Sunday.
After losing the AEW World Tag Team Title on an episode of Dynamite in October, The Young Bucks fled the arena in fear of Jon Moxley and the Death Riders and have not been on TV since. Nevertheless, Matthew and Nicholas Jackson are set for a huge title match this Sunday at the Wrestle Dynasty event in Tokyo Dome.
The Bucks will take on the team of Great-O-Khan and his mystery partner for the vacant IWGP Tag Team Championship. Ahead of their match at Wrestle Dynasty, Great-O-Khan appeared at the presser event. Matthew and Nicholas Jackson were also supposed to be at the event, but they refused to do so.
However, the former AEW World Tag Team Champions were seen on the big screen as they sent a message to Great-O-Khan. The Bucks asked O-Khan to pick anyone as his mystery partner for Wrestle Dynasty on January 5, as they were not afraid. The duo then just disappeared after sending a short message.
The Young Bucks' original plans for the AEW World Tag Team Title
The Young Bucks' third reign as the AEW World Tag Team Champions ended in October 2024. Speaking on Tunnel Talk recently, Matthew and Nicholas Jackson revealed that their original plan was to drop the titles to a specific team and not Private Party.
"Originally, I wanted it to finally land on—well, I don’t even know if I should give that away, because that’s probably something we could do in the future. I wanted it to land on a very specific team, and I wanted them to maul us in four seconds. Oh my God, and I thought it would have shocked everyone. That was my big plan, and we would have dropped the titles that way."
However, The Bucks didn't reveal which team they wanted to drop the titles to. Only time will tell when the duo will make their return to AEW television.
