AEW has been developing an interesting storyline over the past several months. The company is seemingly preparing to split Anthony Bowens and Max Caster of The Acclaimed. Fans online are now comparing the angle to The New Day's breakup in WWE.
Max Caster and Anthony Bowens are one of the top tag teams in AEW and are former World Tag Team and World Trios Champions. However, the duo could part ways amid rising tensions. On the latest episode of Dynamite, The Acclaimed took on The Hurt Syndicate's Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin. Bowens and Caster kept arguing throughout the match.
Ultimately, Bowens walked out on his tag team partner. Due to this, Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin took control and picked up a victory by making Caster submit to the Hurt Lock. AEW uploaded an exclusive clip of The Acclaimed after the match, where both stars were arguing about their recent miscommunications.
Charlotte Flair to return and wrestle a CURRENT CHAMPION?
Fans on X/Twitter reacted to the footage and mentioned how they wanted The Acclaimed to split up for a long time. A user also pointed out how the duo's story was similar to The New Day's ongoing angle in WWE. For those unaware, Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston recently betrayed Big E.
Some fans expressed how they wanted to see a feud between Anthony Bowens and Max Caster before reuniting in the future with different personas.
"Give them a singles feud then reunion with evolved character development as a renewed tag team," a fan tweeted.
"Are we inching towards a Caster vs. Bowens match? Exciting!" Another fan tweeted.
"PUNCH HIM ANTHONY PLEASE" a fan wrote.
Last month, Caster suffered losses against TJ Crawford and Swerve Strickland in singles matches.
The Acclaimed's Max Caster on Tony Khan signing new talent to AEW
Tony Khan has brought a lot of top talents into All Elite Wrestling since the company's inception.
On Insight with Chris Van Vliet, former AEW World Tag Team Champion Max Caster claimed Khan recruiting new performers was insulting to him. The Acclaimed star has been acting like a heel nowadays, which has seemingly given him an edge when compared to Anthony Bowens.
"I’ll work for that. If you want me to fill someone’s role, I can work and do that. It’s not going to be overnight. It’s not going to be okay, Max is now this guy. No, but I could work there. But it’s insulting to me as a veteran, a top wrestler, and one of the most popular wrestlers that fans will go well, we want this other guy now. Why? You have the best, literally the whole roster, you have the top of wrestling." [H/T: ITR Wrestling]
Fans will have to wait and see what's in store for The Acclaimed in the coming months.
