A top star and former world champion was viciously attacked this week on AEW Dynamite. The talent in question, Swerve Strickland, has a huge bout against Bobby Lashley scheduled for later this month.
Last week on Collision, Lio Rush discussed his interest in joining forces with The Hurt Syndicate before calling out Swerve Strickland to a singles encounter on November 13. The two men had last met in the squared circle in 2020 when they were both signed with WWE, although they had worked together in the indie scene previously as well.
Despite giving it his all, and even trying illegal tactics to defeat the former AEW World Champion, Rush was defeated by Strickland this week on Dynamite. After the bout, The New Flavor called out his Full Gear 2024 opponent Bobby Lashley to a confrontation in the ring. The latter then made his way out to the entrance stage alongside his manager MVP.
The Franchise Playa revealed that The Hurt Syndicate intended to teach him a lesson tonight about strength in numbers. As The All-Mighty prepared for a brawl with Swerve, the latter was blindsided by Shelton Benjamin. Strickland would then be brutalized by Lashley outside the ring while The Gold Standard held back Prince Nana in the corner.
The Destroyer then tossed Strickland back into the ring, only for the former Moghul Embassy leader to eat a DDT from Benjamin. He would then be incapacitated by Lashley's Hurt Lock and left unconscious. The former WWE Champion even chucked Nana violently into and through the turnbuckles to the outside before he left the ring.
It remains to be seen if Swerve Strickland can defeat Bobby Lashley at AEW Full Gear.
