AEW star Chris Jericho revealed he was legitimately hurt after a confrontation with a returning star on Dynamite. The star is none other than HOOK.
The Cold-Hearted Handsome Devil returned to in-ring action on the latest episode of Dynamite, swiftly defeating Sebastian Wolfe before calling out Chris Jericho. HOOK challenged the latter to an impromptu FTW Title match, but The Learning Tree informed him that he would have to win a qualification match on Collision to challenge him for the title.
This prompted HOOK to hit Jericho on the head with a mic and attack him. Although initially suffering from a two-on-one disadvantage against Jericho and his new student, Big Bill, the 25-year-old was rescued by Katsuyori Shibata.
In the aftermath of AEW Dynamite, Jericho took to Instagram to share a photograph of himself getting stitches on his head after HOOK's assault. He warned the budding star that he would need to do more for a shot at his now-renamed 'For The World' Title.
"Getting stitches in the back of my head after #AEWDynamite thanks to @730hook….and I’m ok with it!! You’re figuring out that you’re gonna have to get a lot meaner #Hook, if you wanna a shot at the #ForTheWorld title! Another lesson taught by #TheLearningTree! Thanks guys! 🌳🌳🌳 #BloodyHand."

Bill Apter thinks Chris Jericho should mentor AEW star HOOK
The rivalry between Chris Jericho and HOOK escalated into a personal feud when the former AEW World Champion shoved the latter's father, Taz, during an in-ring segment on Dynamite last month. This led to the 25-year-old star facing Jericho in an FTW Title match at Dynasty 2024, whose surprising outcome saw Jericho win the belt after hitting HOOK with a baseball bat.
Although the two men are currently at odds with each other, veteran journalist Bill Apter proposed a different approach to the storyline. Speaking on Sportskeeda's UnSKripted, he argued that it would have been interesting to see The Ocho become a mentor to HOOK.
"I would have loved to have seen this whole thing with Hook work out where he became Hook's mentor, and he (Chris Jericho) stopped wrestling, and he just started bringing Hook up or somebody... Maybe somebody else that Jericho could mentor and bring up as the next... I don't think the fans are sick of seeing him altogether."
It remains to be seen whether HOOK succeeds at securing another shot at Jericho and the FTW Championship on Collision.
