A top star from AEW has made several cutting remarks about Mercedes Mone. The talent in question, Mariah May, is the reigning Women's World Champion of the Tony Khan-led promotion.
The Glamour recently sat down for an interview with Renee Paquette, who asked her about her opinions on a star of the magnitude of the former Sasha Banks arriving in All Elite Wrestling. May responded by firing off against the reigning TBS Champion, claiming that the latter has her own private locker room and calling her out for supposedly prioritizing her work on her newsletter, Mone Mag, oversharing her knowledge with AEW's female talent.
"I don't care, honestly, half the time I don't know she's stepped in here because, I don't know if you know this, but she has her own locker room, so she says she's here to help and she cares so much, so come into our tiny little locker room and help us, teach us, share your knowledge from all these years of experience you've apparently had."
She continued further:
"But no, she's sitting in her locker-room, and she's writing her little Mone Mag. I mean, how many people are reading that magazine, who actually cares about your magazine? Because I care about women's wrestling, and I care about being on the show and getting more than ten minutes, so if you care, come and step in the ring with me," said May. [0:07 - 0:38]
Mariah's comments follow on the heels of The CEO revealing last month that she had her eye on May's AEW Women's World Title. The Fighting Princess won the belt by defeating her former mentor Toni Storm at All In this year and recently defended it against Anna Jay on the November 16 edition of Collision.
Notably, The Queen Slayer is set to challenge Mone for her TBS Title on Dynamite: Holiday Bash next week.
Mariah May will be in action this week on AEW Dynamite
Months after turning on Toni Storm, Mariah May betrayed another former mentor and ally at Full Gear 2024 when she tried to ambush her best friend Mina Shirakawa during her long-awaited Championship Celebration. The fan-favorite Japanese star took out her Rose Gold tag partner at the pay-per-view, though the latter assaulted her backstage days later, after which an AEW Women's World Title bout was made official between the two women for Dynamite: Winter is Coming.
It remains to be seen if Shirakawa, who has seemingly put her friendship with May behind her, will be able to become the new Women's World Champion this Wednesday.
