A budding star from AEW recently recalled a negative incident from earlier in his pro wrestling career on social media. The talent in question is Anthony Bowens, one-half of The Acclaimed alongside Max Caster.

Bowens' journey in the squared circle began in 2013, and he has competed in a number of independent promotions over the years, including Right Coast Pro, House of Glory, and WrestlePro. He even wrestled a match on WWE NXT in 2016, years before signing with AEW in 2020 as a new tag team unit alongside Max Caster.

Since then, Bowens has attained considerable success and popularity as a member of The Acclaimed. The former All Elite World Tag Team Champion was recently asked by an X/Twitter user to share a past missed professional opportunity during an online Q&A.

Bowens responded by revealing that in 2014, an unnamed individual had cost him the chance to square off against the legendary Ultimo Dragon at an event called Dragon Mania in Mexico. He also alluded to how the experience affected his subsequent ability to trust his peers in the industry.

"Back in 2014, someone basically screwed me out of wrestling Ultimo Dragon at Dragonmania in Mexico City. My first don't trust anyone moment in the business," wrote Bowens.

What Anthony Bowens has been up to in AEW lately

Last week on Collision, Anthony Bowens, along with his partner Max Caster, defeated LFI's RUSH and The Beast Mortos to advance to Full Gear 2024. On the upcoming PPV, they will participate in a four-way match for the AEW World Tag Team Titles against The Outrunners, The Kings of the Black Throne, and defending champions, Private Party.

However, the Tony Khan-led promotion has also ostensibly been planting the seeds for The Acclaimed potentially splitting in the near future, as Caster seems open to MVP's offer to join The Hurt Syndicate while Bowens does not.

It remains to be seen if The Scissor King will soon strike out as a singles performer in All Elite Wrestling.
