A top star from AEW, who has not held singles gold in over 600 days, recently commented on the prospects of being the Tony Khan-led promotion's world champion. The talent being alluded to, Darby Allin, has been in the world title conversations of late, in light of recent remarks made by his legendary retired tag partner.
The Countdown to On Sale event promoting ticket sales for All In 2025 featured an appearance from Sting. The Icon addressed his AEW tag partner, Darby Allin, and predicted that the latter would hold the AEW World Championship in 2025.
During an interview with Denise Salcedo, Allin was asked for his thoughts on potentially holding the Jacksonville-based company's top prize. The 31-year-old star expressed his willingness to represent All Elite Wrestling and the potential the promotion offers. He also spoke about the bond he has forged with his fanbase.
"You know, when I think of being world champion, it represents what this company can do for somebody, and I feel like there's no better spokesperson for this company than me, as an AEW original.. Considering I was never supposed to be the guy, but through just, the freedom, going out there and being me, I've naturally just gotten over with people. And I think to be the guy holding the world championship and representing this company, it's a very, very special thing that I want to represent," said Allin. [0:15 - 0:52]

Notably, Darby's last singles championship run was his brief 2023 reign as TNT Champion, which came to an end at the hands of Samoa Joe in February last year.
What Darby Allin is up to right now in AEW
While Darby Allin may have the All Elite Wrestling World Title on his bucket list of goals, he is currently a participant in the 2024 Continental Classic. Unfortunately, the Washington native has had a rocky start in the tournament, launching his campaign with a loss to his fellow Gold League block member and long-time rival Brody King.
However, Allin bounced back last week on AEW Collision, picking up his first three points with a win over Komander. It remains to be seen whether he can go on to win the 2024 C2 and become the next Continental Champion at Worlds End.
