AEW star gets candid about using steroids in the past. He says that it turned him into an "animal".
The AEW star in question is Jake "The Snake" Roberts. Back in the '80s and '90s, wrestling was a big man's sport. All the top guys had one thing in common - they were buffed. This put a lot of pressure on several stars and made them want to get big as quickly as possible. Many of the wrestlers had to resort to taking performance-enhancing substances to keep up with the standards of the time.
Today, promotions like WWE have a wellness policy to test wrestlers for drug use, but this wasn't the case back then. Several of the top stars in the promotion used steroids to build massive physiques so that they could also be in the top spots.
One of the wrestlers known for taking PEDs was Jake Roberts. Roberts wrestled for the WWE from 1986 to 1992 and has admitted to doing drugs back in the day. During a recent episode of his The Snake Pit podcast, Roberts stated that steroids made him feel like an animal.
"It [steroids] turns you into an animal, it really does. You hunger for lifting. That's all you want to do is lift," Roberts said. [H/T: WrestlingInc.]

AEW star Jake "The Snake" Roberts is interested in a match against Cody Rhodes
During his legendary career, Jake "The Snake" Roberts has faced many opponents like Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Randy Savage, and more. He has also faced two members of the Rhodes family - Dustin Rhodes and Dusty Rhodes.
However, he has never stepped into the ring with Cody Rhodes despite the two men being involved in a storyline during their time together in AEW. Cody even named Jake as his dream opponent. Despite being under contract in Tony Khan's promotion, the WWE Hall of Famer has expressed interest in facing The American Nightmare.
“It feels pretty damn good, I gotta tell you that. I’d be interested in that match for sure. You know, I’ve wrestled his brother and father, so I might as well kick his a** too." [H/T: Fightful]
It will be interesting to see whether Jake "The Snake" Roberts will get the chance to face Cody Rhodes sometime in the future.
