AEW star Jeff Jarrett details recent meeting with Jerry Lawler amid his health struggles (Exclusive)

AEW star Jeff Jarrett recently recalled meeting Jerry Lawler amid his health struggles. This meeting took place during an NBA game.

Jerry Lawler is one of the best professional wrestlers in the Memphis wrestling scene. He has competed against and beaten some of the biggest names in wrestling in his illustrious career. Unfortunately, Lawler's health has not been in the best shape in recent years. He has had multiple heart attacks including one that happened live on WWE RAW.

During a recent exclusive interview with Bill Apter, Jeff Jarrett was asked about Jerry Lawler. The AEW star recalled a previous meeting between the two at a Memphis Grizzlies game:

"Two months ago....three months ago....it was this basketball season. Me and Satnam Singh did a Memphis Grizzly appearance with NBA basketball and of course, Grand City Wrestling and Dustin and just the Grizz family....actually, the mascot Grizz. I'm a huge fan of him but we came down me and Satnam did an appearance and I got to see King. He was there."

He continued:

"Dave Brown, Billy, it was great seeing him, talking to him, you know, but at the game, we're right beside each other and the guy who kinda hushed me and said 'hey, just to let you know Jerry Lawler is right next door. Not sure if you know him or not' They were being very polite but I said 'Who? The King is right next door'...Anyway...I got to go down and sit and chat with him. We caught up on all kinds of things. I don't think we talked wrestling. We talked family and sports and probably a little Cleveland in there." [6:36 - 7:56]

Jeff Jarrett defends Jack Perry's new behavior

Ever since Jack Perry turned heel, he has done some controversial things like attacking Tony Khan and Kenny Omega. He has also shown more depth to his character. However, his new gimmick has gotten him a lot of heat.

During a recent interview on Sportskeeda's WrestleBinge, Jeff Jarrett came to the defense of Jack Perry's newfound attitude:

"It's subjective, you may think he's [Jack Perry] lost it. I think it's a great trait to have. I really believe, that in our industry, you have to pull out a thread of your deep down personality and you've got to amplify it to the umptheenth degree, because we are in the entertainment business, we're also in a very, very competitive business. We're obviously not true sport but it's super competitive," Jeff Jarrett said. [From 7:17 to 7:50]

Jack Perry is currently trying to become the next TNT Champion. However, it remains to be seen if he will achieve his goal.
