International Champion star MJF will debut in a prominent promotion associated with AEW. The company he will appear in is CMLL, whose stars have appeared in All Elite Wrestling.
The Wolf of Wrestling defeated Will Ospreay on Dynamite 250 this week. The bout was almost an hour long, with both the stars battling with their hearts out. In the closing minute of the match, Maxwell hit the champ with a Diamond ring to pick up the AEW International Championship.
Days later, CMLL confirmed MJF's appearance on their show. In a clip posted by the promotion, the Wolf of Wrestling claimed his match with Ospreay was the easiest match of his life. The star later announced he would defend his newly won championship at CMLL on August 2, 2024.
"MJF will bet the AEW International Championship at La Catedral de la Lucha Libre!" CMLL tweeted.
Former WWE writer buries Judgment Day HERE
This will not be the first time that the International Champion might be facing a CMLL star. At the Forbidden Door pay-per-view, the Salt of the Earth faced Hechicero in an exciting match. The former AEW World Champion picked up victory in his hometown at Long Island.
Booker T criticizes MJF vs. Will Ospreay
As noted, Maxwell defeated the Aerial Assassin after a 59-minute, 58-second contest on Dynamite.
While speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, the WWE Veteran claimed that people might not be interested in lengthy matches.
"An hour of broadway on television these days? (...) I don't know. I could be wrong but I don't think people are interested in watching people wrestle for an hour on TV these days. But I could be wrong on that.(...) For me, personally, no vignette, no promos or anything. Just guys in the ring, wrestling, overlaid by the commentators. Me personally, that is not that entertaining to me," Booker said.
It remains to be seen who will be the International Champion's opponent at CMLL.
