A top AEW star recently spoke about a valuable life lesson he learned from his mentor and former tag team partner, Sting. The talent in question - Darby Allin - formed an undefeated tag team with The Icon during the legend's run in the Tony Khan-led promotion.

At the Revolution pay-per-view earlier this year, Sting wrestled his final match, successfully defending the AEW World Tag Team Championship alongside Allin in a brutal Tornado Tag bout against The Young Bucks. The duo had a dominant run prior to their reign with the titles as well, holding wins over The Acclaimed, FTR, The House of Black, and more.

The Stinger has since revealed that he has signed a licensing deal with the Jacksonville-based promotion, and upheld his loyalty to Allin by saving the latter from being set on fire by The Elite at All In 2024. During a recent appearance on the Downunder The Ring podcast, the former TNT Champion revealed some invaluable advise he had received from the WWE Hall of Famer, emphasising the importance of keeping one's ego at check in the pro wrestling industry.

"[The most important lesson I've learned from Sting was] just to be humble and grateful for everything," Allin said. "Just don't believe the hype, don't get an ego, because the wrestling world is gonna chew you up and spit you out. At the end of the day, when the 15 minute ride's over, you want to look in the mirror and know who you're looking at, you know? He's the greatest dude ever. Just how he led outside of the ring is bigger than how he led inside of it." [H/T - WrestlingInc.]

Darby Allin's current journey in AEW

Darby Allin is currently locked in on his singles career, and has his eyes set on Jon Moxley and The Death Riders. His retaliatory intentions were made clear at the end of Full Gear 2024, when he shockingly rammed his own vehicle into the heel group's truck to stop them from escaping.

Allin was also recently announced as a participant in the 2024 Continental Classic, and will compete against his forever rival Brody King in a Gold League match this week on AEW Dynamite.

Sting, on the other hand, seems to be finished inside the squared circle, as per recent comments from All Elite CEO Tony Khan.
