An AEW star has seemingly been out for some time due to an injury. The talent in question, Angélico, has been with the Tony Khan-led promotion since the year of its foundation.
The Ultimate Airdevil, whose career in the squared circle began in 2008, made a name for himself as a premiere high-flyer through his performances across promotions such as AAA, International Wrestling Revolution Group, Lucha Underground, and ICW, to name a few examples. He signed with AEW in 2019 and has shared the ring with top names like The Hardys, The Blackpool Combat Club, Eddie Kingston, Orange Cassidy, and more.
From 2023 onwards, Angélico began teaming with Serpentico. Together, known as the Spanish Announce Project, the duo has been wrestling primarily in AEW's sister promotion, Ring of Honor. However, the South African star has been missing from action since November last year.
Speaking on a recent edition of the AEW Unrestricted podcast, Serpentico revealed that Angélico has been recovering from a leg injury and that the latter's comeback was imminent. He also teased that he would pursue the ROH World Tag Team Championships after his partner returned to the ring.
"Once Angelico comes back — he's been out for a few weeks with a leg injury but he'll be back soon — I would love to start tagging again. I think we have a very deep tag roster, and I would love to go after those Ring of Honor Tag Team Championships."
The Snake Man also spoke about his openness to competing in any kinds of matches.
"I'm a big fan of wrestling in general. You can put me in singles, tags, trios, battle royals, I'll do it all just to be able to say 'Hey, I was a part of this era of Ring of Honor," said Serpentico [H/T - Wrestling Inc]
The ROH Tag Titles are currently in the possession of Sammy Guevara and Dustin Rhodes, aka The Sons of Texas.
What The Spanish Announce project has been up to in AEW-ROH lately
In his last ROH match, Angélico was defeated by NJPW star Gabe Kidd one-on-one this past November. His last AEW bout took place in September before that, in a losing effort against Konosuke Takeshita on Rampage.
Serpentico, on the other hand, lost to Blake Christian in ROH earlier this month and, more recently, was on the losing side of a multi-person tag bout. He also wrestled at Dynamite: Fight for the Fallen in a handicap match as Jon Cruz, though Powerhouse Hobbs swiftly crushed him and his partner Rob Killjoy.
