A top AEW star has been pulled from an upcoming show without reason. The star is none other than Kota Ibushi.

The Japanese star is currently signed to AEW. However, he has been off television for a notable amount of time due to injury. Kota Ibushi returned to in-ring action in Japan in July but his All Elite Wrestling return is yet to happen. The Golden Star was scheduled for the Ueno event on October 17, and the Korakuen event on October 20, for Deadlock Pro Wrestling but an unfortunate update about his status was provided by the promotion recently.

In a recent post on X (fka Twitter), DDT announced that Kota Ibushi will be unable to appear on both shows and they will provide refunds to the customers who ask for it.

"Ibushi was scheduled to appear at the Ueno event on October 17th and the Korakuen event on the 20th, but will be absent from these two events. We would like to offer our deepest apologies to everyone who was looking forward to Ibushi's matches. We will provide refunds to customers who wish to do so."

Kota Ibushi has been training with Kenny Omega since The Cleaner's surgery. It will be interesting to see if both stars show up together in AEW soon.

Kota Ibushi plans on retiring after his AEW run

Last year, Tony Khan hyped the arrival of a major star to All Elite Wrestling which was later revealed to be Kota Ibushi. The Golden Star revealed that he had signed a flexible deal with the Jacksonville-based promotion which allows him to work in Japan.

Unfortunately, Kota Ibushi's run has been greatly affected due to his injuries and he has been off television for a long time. Despite the setbacks, The NJPW Legend confirmed earlier this year that he will finish his career after leaving All Elite Wrestling.

“Thank you. I will never betray anyone who follows me. But retirement is real. When AEW ends, it will end in Japan,” he tweeted

We will have to wait and see when Kota Ibushi returns to action in All Elite Wrestling.
