An AEW star recently spoke about his desire to be called the best manager of all time, similar to WWE's Paul Heyman.
The star in question is none other than CJ Perry, who was known as Lana in WWE and worked as a manager as well as an in-ring performer before her release on June 2, 2021. Perry recently made her debut in All Elite Wrestling at All Out 2023, coming to the aid of her husband, Miro, after his match against Will Hobbs.
Speaking to Chris Van Vliet, CJ Perry was asked if she would step in the ring again in All Elite Wrestling. Perry revealed she wants to follow in the footsteps of Paul Heyman to become the greatest manager of all time:
"I want to be the best of all time. I want to be the best wrestling manager of all time. People often want to be managed by Paul Heyman, because he is the best manager of all time right now, right? I want to take that spot. I want people to be like, 'I want CJ Perry to manage me.' I would rather do that than try to become a champion or fight whatever for championships. I want to be the best hustler for those people to be champions and create a legacy and name that way. I just feel like that's my calling." [39:24 - 40:03]
AEW star CJ Perry reflects on her return to professional wrestling
Former WWE star CJ Perry recently spoke about her return to professional wrestling after a long hiatus.
In an interview with Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Perry spoke about Miro's arrival in AEW as well as her WWE departure:
"When Miro first joined AEW, I was still in WWE, that was in 2020. He started there in September, I think. But I was in WWE still, and I had a very lucrative contract, and I was on TV every week, so we both thought it made sense for me to stay. And then, when I finished my time [with WWE] a year later, Miro wanted me to come over to AEW. He was plugging me in the story, and that's how I got the name 'hot and flexible.'"
She further added:
"I needed a little bit of a break. I wanted to be home for a little bit, and I wanted to do things. I didn't want to jump right back on the road. So I took a little bit [of time], about a year, and it was just trying to figure out the time. Tony Khan has great things going on with his show. I had things going on, Miro had things, and it was all about timing." (H/T Sescoops)
