Two top AEW stars seemingly took a shot at Cody Rhodes by ignoring his contributions to the promotion on the five-year-anniversary episode of Dynamite. The talents in question are The Young Bucks.
The October 2, 2024 edition of AEW Dynamite emanated from the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and featured a tag team match pitting Private Party against The Iron Savages. Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen picked up a quick victory over Bear Bronson and Bear Boulder with their signature finisher, Gin and Juice.
After the match, Zay grabbed a microphone and voiced Private Party's resolve to become the next AEW World Tag Team Champions. To that end, the duo called out the current title-holders, Matthew and Nicholas Jackson, reminding them of their past victory over the EVPs and challenging them to an impromptu bout.
The Young Bucks then arrived and assumed credit for "building" the Tony Khan-led promotion, seemingly disregarding the roles played by their former allies, Cody Rhodes and Kenny Omega, behind the foundation and growth of AEW. They also teased facing Private Party that very night, albeit ultimately refusing to wrestle in Pittsburgh, much to the ire of the live audience.

Eventually, Zay and Quen would be attacked in the ring by Jack Perry, who would be joined in the beatdown by his Elite stable-mates. However, The Scapegoat's WrestleDream 2024 challenger Katsuyori Shibata made the save for the babyfaces, sending Perry and The Bucks running.
Afterward, interim EVP Christopher Daniels, who has been standing up to The Elite since earlier this year, announced a trios match pitting Private Party and Shibata against The Jackson Brothers and Perry for Rampage this week.
