AEW commentator Jim Ross has had a rough couple of years, but he seems to be getting back on track. The WWE legend recently provided an update after receiving surgery.

Jim Ross signed with All Elite Wrestling shortly after its founding in 2019. He was active throughout the company's first couple of years as the color commentator on Wednesday Night Dynamite. However, the 72-year-old's health began to decline, and his appearances at the booth became more and more infrequent.

These days, Ross is brought in primarily for major matches at pay-per-views. He received cancer treatment earlier this year but was later admitted to the hospital with breathing issues.

JR took to X/Twitter today to provide fans with another update on his health. The legendary commentator revealed that he'd undergone wrist surgery and is now healing up:

"Wrist surgery successfully done. Healing continues. 🤠," wrote Ross.

Jim Ross believes current champion is a major building block for AEW's future

Throughout his long career in the wrestling industry, Jim Ross has been celebrated for his ability to scout talent. The former WWE Head of Talent Relations is responsible for signing many of wrestling's top stars, including The Rock and Randy Orton.

JR has now indicated that he sees something special in TNT Champion Jack Perry. On a recent episode of Grilling JR, Ross said that he was interested in Perry's 'Scapegoat' persona and claimed that the young star's best days are ahead of him:

"I like him [Jack Perry] a lot, and he's working hard on his body. He's adding a little size; he's very athletic; he's a student of the game; his greatest days are ahead of him. I'm anxious to see how far he's allowed to take this gimmick, and how far he's going to be able to evolve in it, because I think he's a future big star. I think he's one of the building blocks; Jack Perry is one of the building blocks of AEW without a doubt," said Ross.

Ross has been a fan of Perry since the early days of AEW and made it a point to refer to him as 'Jungle Boy' Jack Perry during the 27-year-old's babyface run, emphasizing his real name.
