An AEW veteran admits he is likely to miss a major PPV in 2025. He also said that the decision was not up to him.
Tony Schiavone has been the voice of AEW since the promotion's inception in 2019. He has played the role of an on-screen commentator and interviewer. Tony has played a key role in the development and growth of All Elite Wrestling over the years. He has been at almost every PPV and televised show. However, he is set to miss a major PPV in 2025.
Wrestle Dynasty is set to take place on January 5, 2025, at the Tokyo Dome and will feature stars from AEW, CMLL, NJPW, and STARDOM. The show will also see the return of Kenny Omega. While several AEW stars will be traveling for the show, Tony Schiavone revealed on his 'What Happened When?' podcast that he won't be traveling to Japan for Wrestle Dynasty.
"Of course, we are sending some people there to Japan. I'm not going to go there. I'm not going to Japan, although I wouldn't mind 'cause I went to Japan back in 1991 with a big show in the egg dome, and that was a great trip," said Schiavone.
Schiavone continued to say that he had a great time in Japan the last time he went but the decision is not up to him.
"I had a great time in Japan when I went there. I loved it. People are so nice, so friendly," he said. "Well, it's not my decision, dumbass [to Thompson]. Either I'm booked or I'm not, and I'm not booked." [H/T WrestlingInc.]
AEW veteran Tony Schiavone said he never thought Bret Hart would be World Champion
Bret Hart is one of the best technical wrestlers of all time. He proved himself to be a catalyst for change in the world of professional wrestling which was previously dominated by muscular men. Bret showed that size didn't matter and you could rely on skill to become a world champion. However, not many people thought the WWE legend would become a World Champion given his relatively small stature until he finally accomplished the feat in 1992.
Speaking on the What Happened When? podcast, Tony Schiavone said that he never thought Bret Hart would become World Champion but was proved wrong.
"I thought Vince looked for the big, big guy; the big guys like Hulk Hogan. I thought Bret was great, a great technical wrestler but I didn't think he'd be a world champion – I was wrong," said Tony Schiavone. [H/T Wrestling Inc.]
It's sad to hear that the voice of AEW, Tony Schiavone, won't be at Wrestle Dynasty 2025.
