On the latest episode of Dynamite, it was announced that AEW World Champion Bryan Danielson will lock horns with long-time Nigel McGuinness in a non-title match at Grand Slam. The latter came out of retirement at All In 2024 to participate in the Casino Gauntlet match.
While the match scheduled for the upcoming television special has got fans talking, former WWE star Bully Ray is concerned about what this means for the animosity between Danielson and Jon Moxley. On last week's Dynamite, the Blackpool Combat Club kicked Bryan out of the faction and brutalized him. Furthermore, Mox suffocated him with a plastic bag.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Bully Ray noted that AEW should emphasize building a captivating story between the two men, or else last week's horrifying plastic bag spot will go to waste.
"If Danielson shows up for this match and never goes back after Moxley when Moxley tried to kill him, are we just going to forget about that? Tonight, we got the challenge from Nigel. We were never really reminded of the plastic bag unless they showed it really quickly in the Moxley package... If AEW never goes back to that moment in time, if Danielson never looks for a receipt, if Danielson never tries to go after Moxley for what he did, then the plastic bag was a spot for the sake of a spot and done for no good reason," claimed Bully Ray. Bully Ray is confident that Nigel McGuinness vs. Bryan Danielson will deliver
Even though there are still a few days left for the Grand Slam TV special, the WWE legend is sure that the match announced between Nigel McGuinness and Bryan Danielson will be "excellent."
On the same episode of Busted Open Radio, Bully said:
"Nigel and Danielson. Masters of their craft in a certain way, shape, or form. Excellent, excellent match. And the match hasn't happened yet. I would go on record to say I believe I would call it excellent before it even happened." [0:01-0:15]
It remains to be seen if McGuinness continues to wrestle after his showdown with his long-time rival Bryan Danielson.
