Bryan Danielson earned a shot at the AEW World Title for All In 2024 by winning this year's Owen Hart Cup. Now, another member of The Blackpool Combat Club is set to compete for a major championship in the Tony Khan-led promotion. The star in question is Claudio Castagnoli.

The August 3, 2024 episode of AEW Collision featured a triple-threat match between NJPW legend Tomohiro Ishii, former ROH World Champion Claudio Castagnoli, and reigning ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty. The winner of the bout was set to receive a title shot against Kazuchika Okada for his AEW Continental Championship.

The three-way bout between Moriarty, Ishii, and Castagnoli was hard-hitting and fast-paced, with all the competitors exchanging chops, suplexes, and other devastating maneuvers. Towards the closing stretch of the match, The Swiss Superman delivered the Neutralizer on Moriarty, although Ishii would break up the pin to save the matchup.

The Stone Pitbull proceeded to hit the Shane Taylor Promotions member with a sliding lariat, but he was pulled out of the ring by Castagnoli. The latter eventually rocked Moriarty with a running uppercut to pick up the win and earn a shot at Kazuchika Okada's Continental Title in the process.

The King of Swing last encountered The Rainmaker on the October 25, 2023 episode of Dynamite. Castagnoli, teaming with his BCC stablemate Bryan Danielson, emerged victorious against Okada and Orange Cassidy. It remains to be seen which of the two men will emerge victorious in their upcoming title match.
