The Don Callis Family is a top heel faction in AEW, managed by one of the promotion's most despised heels, Don Callis. While the group has recently witnessed a couple of major new additions, a current member, Powerhouse Hobbs, has seemingly put a question mark on his status in the stable.
Last week, at a press conference on AEW Dynamite, Callis seemingly confirmed his acquisition of Lance Archer. He introduced reigning ROH World TV Champion Brian Cage as Archer's tag team partner, declaring that the duo will pursue the World Tag Team Titles together. The segment also featured newly crowned AEW International Champion Konosuke Takeshita and Kyle Fletcher, whose betrayal of Will Ospreay enabled The Alpha to win the title at WrestleDream 2024.
On a recent edition of In The Kliq, Powerhouse Hobbs - who has been a member of The Don Callis Family since October last year - seemed to wittily question his affiliation with the heel stable. However, he proceeded to congratulate Takeshita for his International Title victory and further remarked on Fletcher's current heel persona following his turn on Will Ospreay.
"Am I?" Hobbs asked. "I'm very happy for [Konosuke] Takeshita. Very happy for him. Very happy that this angry, mean version of Kyle Fletcher showed up. So I'm very proud of those two guys."
Hobbs revealed that he has been keeping up with recent developments in AEW and its roster.
"I prefer sometimes just to sit back and watch everybody," Hobbs went on. "I've got my eye on everyone. No one's excluded. If you're breathing and you have a full-time contract on that roster — you know, fair game." [H/T - Wrestling Inc]
What The Don Callis Family has been up to lately?
Members of The Don Callis Family have been busy over the past weekend dominating their competition. On the October 19, 2024 edition of AEW Collision, Kyle Fletcher defeated Atlantis Jr. in singles action.
The two men had previously squared off in June when the masked luchador defeated The Protostar for the ROH World TV Title. Furthermore, Brian Cage and Lance Archer made their tag team debut at Battle of The Belts XII by swiftly defeating Jack Cartwheel and Jon Cruz.
On Night 2 of MLP Forged in Excellence on October 20, Konosuke Takeshita successfully retained his AEW International Championship against Josh Alexander. The Japanese phenomenon, alongside Don Callis, would put the boots to The Walking Weapon after the bout, but Ricochet arrived to make the save for Alexander.
With Powerhouse Hobbs now cleared for action, it remains to be seen if the former TNT Champion will reunite with his stablemates in AEW.
