WWE Hall of Famer and AEW legend Jake 'The Snake' Roberts is one of the most respected names in the professional wrestling business. The 69-year-old recently provided an update on his latest health issues.
Jake 'The Snake' Roberts signed with AEW in March 2020. However, many have noticed his sudden disappearance from television from time to time in the past few years, and the legend confirmed it was due to some health issues like COPD.
During a recent edition of The Snake Pit podcast, Jake Roberts revealed that he was recently hospitalized due to being diagnosed with pneumonia. The Snake spoke about how some other issues also came up when he was at the hospital and that he was working on getting better.
“I’m doing a little bit better. I had a pretty scary moment last week. I got incredibly sick, and I wound up going to the hospital on Friday night. Don’t remember a da*n thing. It’s pretty scary. Come to find out I had pneumonia and that’s not a good thing for me. I already have COPD, and to get pneumonia, and that’s not a good thing for me. I already have COPD, and to get pneumonia is like you’re flirting with disaster there. I was in the hospital for four days, and very grateful to find out that I’ve got a couple of issues and I did not know," he said.
The veteran further revealed the symptoms, adding that he'd have ''a couple of procedures done.''
"One is I had blood in my urine; didn’t know that. Another thing is, apparently, I’m leaking blood somewhere in my gut, and that’s causing my iron levels to be low. That’s not a good thing. Then to top it off, I got a problem with my ticker. But by going in, I caught it, and we got to go have a couple of procedures done, and it’ll be all hunky dory then. I’ve got this cough, but I’m doing better. It’s quite the surprise, man. Next thing I know, I’m waking up in a hospital. That was weird!" he added. [H/T: Fightful]
AEW veteran Jake Roberts on taking steroids
AEW legend Jake Roberts comes from an era during which taking steroids was common among professional wrestlers. Steroids were mainly used by stars to build physiques in the hope of getting launched into the main event scene.
During an edition of The Snake Pit podcast in November 2024, the WWE Hall of Famer regretted taking steroids. Roberts admitted that steroids turned him into ''an animal.''
"It [steroids] turns you into an animal; it really does. You hunger for lifting. That's all you want to do is lift," Roberts said. [H/T: WrestlingInc.]
We will have to wait and see if Jake Roberts gets to be a part of a major storyline in AEW in 2025.
Sportskeeda Wrestling wishes Jake 'The Snake' Roberts a speedy recovery.
