AEW went head-to-head against WWE this week. Dynamite: Title Tuesday and the October 8 edition of NXT took place on the same day. Just like last year, NXT came out on top, garnering more viewers than All Elite Wrestling's flagship program.
This week's AEW Dynamite reportedly drew 329k viewers on average and was rated 0.10 in the 18-49 demographic. Meanwhile, WWE NXT amassed an average viewership of 874k, bumping the ratings to 0.24 in the 18-49 demographic. This marked AEW's second consecutive loss against the global juggernaut in the ratings war.
After the TV ratings surfaced on X/Twitter, viewers quickly shared their reactions. Pro wrestling fans were shocked to see AEW lose again in the ratings war. They claimed that the reason for the defeat was AEW's weak marketing and advertising team.
Some fans also felt Randy Orton's match on NXT helped WWE surpass Dynamite in terms of TV ratings.
"AEW’s marketing team is their worst enemy," a fan wrote.
"Just AEW being very very bad at advertising, nothing new here," a viewer tweeted.
Some fans think AEW President Tony Khan should move Dynamite to another day of the week to attract more viewers.
"I just don’t understand why couldn’t Tony have the show on Thursday when nothing is on," a user commented.
"This is embarrassing. Don’t give me the “it’s Tuesday” excuse. This is sad," a post read.
This week's NXT featured numerous main roster stars, including Jey Uso, Bianca Belair, and Jade Cargill. Meanwhile, Dynamite drew its lowest average audience to date.
Randy Orton comments on WWE NXT appearance
One of the big reasons why this week's NXT drew a huge TV audience was because Randy Orton wrestled on the show. He faced Je'Von Evans and defeated him in a singles match, which took place in his hometown, St. Louis, Missouri.
Following the bout, The Viper praised the 20-year-old star and motivated The Young OG to keep thriving. He noticed how humble the NXT star was and wished him good luck for his future.
