AEW's Women's division recently witnessed a huge return in the form of Toni Storm. However, her gimmick change has been interesting which has sparked a lot of conversations. Teddy Long and Bill Apter have shared their thoughts on Storm's gimmick.
A couple of weeks ago on Dynamite, Toni Storm made her return to the Jacksonville-based promotion. This was after she announced her kayfabe retirement while playing the 'Timeless' Toni Storm character. Storm has been acting as an up-and-coming star who has just been signed by All Elite Wrestling. Many stars in the promotion have tried to remind Toni of her past in recent weeks.
During the recent edition of Sportskeeda Wrestling's The Wrestling Time Machine podcast hosted by Mac Davis, Teddy Long and Bill Apter were asked about their thoughts on Toni Storm's new character. The Hall of Fame journalist had nothing but positive thoughts about Storm calling the storyline a great angle. Teddy Long addressed the former Women's World Champion:
"I know who Tony Storm is. I know her. I've watched her before."
Mac Davis further questioned Teddy Long whether Toni Storm came up with her new gimmick. He also asked the former SmackDown GM if Godfather pitched the idea for his gimmick in WWE to which Teddy Long revealed that Vince McMahon came up with the gimmick:
"We don't know that, Matt. That comes from the writers and the producers. How do we know who come up with it?" [2:36 - 3:21]

Konnan slams Toni Storm's new AEW gimmick
After a successful run as 'Timeless' Toni Storm, the gimmick was officially retired by the star a couple of months ago. She recently returned to All Elite Wrestling with a new character where Toni Storm has been acting as a new AEW star.
In a recent edition of the Keepin'I t 100 podcast, Konnan slammed the gimmick and shared his dislike of the character. He noted how Toni had a great thing going with her Timeless character and questioned why she got rid of it:
Toni Storm came back as this giddy stupid chick that was like, 'Oh I can't believe I'm in AEW'. There's Mark Briscoe, and she's just geeking out over him... She was one of the most interesting characters and she showed dimension. And she wasn't just one-dimensional. That was working out pretty good. Why didn't she stay with that? I don't like this thing," said Konnan.
The fans will have to wait and see what pay-off Tony Khan has in plans for Toni Storm's new gimmick in AEW.
