Claudio Castagnoli, FKA Cesaro, is having a favorable run in AEW. He is a member of the Blackpool Combat Club, which apart from him consists of Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley, and Wheeler Yuta. From time to time, the 43-year-old also performs in All Elite Wrestling's sister promotion, Ring of Honor.

AEW has a working relationship with several promotions across the world, including CMLL. This Mexican company is close to a century old, making it the oldest wrestling promotion still in operation. One of their most important wrestling tournaments is the CMLL International Gran Prix, which is inspired by NJPW's International Wrestling Gran Prix tournament. Castagnoli recently announced that he will participate in the 2024 edition of this prestigious contest.

The Swiss star recently appeared on CMLL Informa and revealed that he will represent the world, his country, AEW, and Blackpool Combat Club in the CMLL Gran Prix. Interestingly, he admitted that 2023 was not a good year for him, however, he is confident that he is going to be one of the best performers in the upcoming tournament

"CMLL, Claudio Castagnoli is coming back for the Grand Prix, representing Team World, representing AEW, representing Switzerland, representing the Blackpool Combat Club. I’m gonna be real with you. Last year, I don’t think it’s been my best. I’ve been doubting myself, I’ve been unsure," he said. (H/T Fightful)

Blackpool Combat Club's Claudio Castagnoli said that he is going to be "better than anybody else"

In the above-mentioned promo at CMLL Informa, Claudio Castagnoli revealed that ever since he went on a pilgrimage to Mexico, he has regained his confidence. Additionally, she said that even though he does not speak Spanish, he does speak the language of lucha libre.

" I took a pilgrimage, and I came to the cathedral [Arena México] for the first time, and I saw the light. I saw the light. Now, I may not speak Spanish, but I do speak lucha libre, and I think I’ll do it better than anybody else. I will prove it to you at the Grand Prix. You’ll be eliminated," he said. (H/T Fightful)

Fans will have to stay tuned to find out whether the Blackpool Combat Club member will win the CMLL International Gran Prix tournament, and what the future holds for the former Swiss Superman.
