Jack Perry has been AEW TNT Champion for just over four months. As a bit of a fighting champion, the former Jungle Boy has successfully defended his gold seven times while also representing The Elite in multi-man action. Perry has now been announced for a major non-title bout in another promotion.

The Scapegoat ended 2023 under an indefinite suspension from AEW following the infamous All In controversy with CM Punk. Due to the working relationship between AEW and NJPW, Perry made his New Japan debut this past January, which served as a reboot to his character and gave a much-needed boost to his career.

The 27-year-old returned to All Elite Wrestling in April with his new persona and aligned with The Elite. He won the vacant TNT Championship in a six-man Ladder Match at Forbidden Door in late June.

Perry is now headed back to the NJPW ring. The promotion announced today that the former FTW Champion will face Yota Tsuji at Wrestle Dynasty on Sunday, January 5 at the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan. This event is being held the day after Wrestle Kingdom 19 and will feature wrestlers from NJPW, AEW, ROH, CMLL, and Stardom.

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

Perry vs. Tsuji will be non-title. NJPW confirmed the match today after Perry attacked Tsuji at Fighting Spirit Unleashed this past weekend. Tsuji and Shingo Takagi defeated Matt Taven and Mike Bennett, but after the match, a dark, cryptic vignette played in the arena and ended with the TNT Champion attacking the Los Ingobernables de Japón member.

The Gene Blaster won the 2024 New Japan Cup earlier this year, which Perry competed for while he was working in NJPW. In announcing the match today, NJPW pointed to how Perry wasn't happy with Tsuji defeating his House of Torture stablemates to win the cup.

Tsuji could be the IWGP Global Champion when Wrestle Dynasty rolls around, as he is set to challenge David Finlay the night before at Wrestle Kingdom. It remains to be seen whether Perry vs. Tsuji could be changed to a championship match.

Top AEW stars set for Wrestle Dynasty

NJPW, AEW, ROH, CMLL, and Stardom are set to present their inaugural Wrestle Dynasty pay-per-view together. The big event is scheduled for Sunday, January 5, 2025, at the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan. This is the night after Wrestle Kingdom 19 at the same venue.

All Elite Wrestling now has five top stars booked for the four Wrestle Dynasty matches confirmed as of this writing. Below is the updated lineup:

  1. The Young Bucks vs. TBA
  2. Ricochet vs. Zack Sabre Jr.
  3. Non-Title Match: AEW TNT Champion Jack Perry vs. Yota Tsuji
  4. NEVER Openweight Championship Match: Shingo Takagi (c) vs. Tomohiro Ishii or AEW International Champion Konosuke Takeshita (This match will be a Winner Takes All bout, with both titles on the line if the NEVER Openweight Championship match at Wrestle Kingdom 19 also becomes a double title match with Takeshita's International Championship on the line. Takeshita vs. Takagi at WK19 will also be for the International Championship if Takeshita can keep the title until then)
