Bobby Lashley has made his presence felt on AEW television from the moment he debuted in the promotion. The former WWE Superstar will compete in a major match at tonight's Full Gear pay-per-view, but he's got even bigger aspirations beyond that.
The Hurt Syndicate has instantly become one of AEW's top factions. While MVP works to secure new clients, Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin are acting as the stable's enforcers. The All Mighty will try to make his mark when he steps into the ring against former AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland tonight.
But Lashley won't be satisfied with just facing a former champion; he also wants the gold for himself. Although Jon Moxley currently holds the AEW World Championship, Bobby Lashley already envisions himself as the promotion's top champion.
In a recent appearance on The Lame Guys Wrestling Podcast, Lashley laid out his vision:
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
"I want to be either defending the title or fighting for the title. I’ve won the ECW Title, WWE Title, TNA Title. AEW Title. I want to get it because I can, based on history, background, and who I am, I can have that title and it would be justified. More importantly, it’s something for other guys to work towards. I’m not an easy person to get to. When you get to it, you don’t necessarily want to be there. I want to get the title match and I win and win, but now I have the title match and it’s ‘Oh s**t.’ Once I do that, I think it would be good for a lot of people at AEW to have that immovable object to get over. I can be that for a lot of people." [H/T Fightful]
Bobby Lashley hints at expanding The Hurt Syndicate
MVP has made it clear that he intends to add to the ranks of The Hurt Syndicate and has already attempted to recruit Swerve Strickland, Ricochet, and Max Caster. His most recent target has been Lio Rush, who lost a match to Strickland on the November 13 episode of Dynamite.
In the same interview on The Lame Guys Wrestling Podcast, Bobby Lashley revealed that he had his eyes on Rush as well. The All Mighty thinks the 30-year-old would be a strong addition to The Hurt Syndicate:
"At the same time, I still pull for Lio. I think Lio would be awesome in the group, too. Either one of those guys would be incredible in the group," said Lashley.
The former WWE Superstar will have his hands full tonight when he faces Swerve Strickland. The Hurt Syndicate has antagonized the former AEW World Champion and his manager, Prince Nana, for weeks. Whether they'll be able to continue their rampage remains to be seen.
