Britt Baker has returned to the AEW storylines, and she has championship gold in her sights. The AEW Original had a lengthy hiatus amid uncertainty over her health but then made a surprise return last month. Baker has now disclosed scary details about why she was away from the squared circle.

The DMD returned at Forbidden Door 2024 for a staredown with Mercedes Moné. She then appeared on Dynamite to announce that she had been dealing with injuries—two herniated discs and an injured hip labrum. Baker also suffered a transient ischemic attack, which was a sign of a stroke, sometimes known as a mini-stroke.

Baker recently discussed her health with Renee Paquette on Close Up and recalled feeling sick and nauseous while in Orlando with her hairstylist, Amanda.

“It was the weirdest thing. I was in Orlando with my hairstylist Amanda, the best in Orlando. I was sitting down and I just remember I felt sick. Something was off and the room was spinning. I was sick, nauseous, sweating. Something was not right. She could tell right away, ‘Are you okay?’ [She] asked me if I needed water. Definitely needed water. First thing that came to mind was something with my neck."

The former AEW Women's World Champion further detailed the unfortunate situation.

"When I had the spinning, and vertigo, it must be something with the neck. She hands me the water, I go to open it, and my right side just doesn’t work. It was numb and couldn’t work. She noticed it and [opened the water for me]. We both panicked at the same time and was like, ‘I think you need to go to the hospital.’ ‘I’m okay, let’s just finish my hair,’ which we did. Insane. It got worse and worse. As soon as we were done, ‘I’m gonna go [to the hospital].’"

Baker's Dynamite return promo was interrupted by Moné, who is the current AEW TBS Champion and the NJPW Strong Women's Champion. The two had a war of words to further their rivalry, but The CEO denied The DMD's request for a title match at All In. The match is still expected to happen in London next month.

Interesting name responsible for viral AEW Dynamite segment

Mercedes Moné and Britt Baker are currently feuding on the road to All In. The former Sasha Banks is playing a full-fledged heel character in the rivalry.

Jennifer Pepperman made headlines when she left WWE earlier this year. Widely praised within the company, the three-time Daytime Emmy Award winner was the longest-tenured female writer on the creative team. She had been with the global juggernaut since 2017 before her exit.

Tony Khan hired Pepperman in February to work as AEW's Vice President of Content Development, and the hire was seen as significant. Pepperman has worked with Moné for years and is now collaborating with her in All Elite Wrestling. The Wrestling Observer reported that Pepperman was responsible for the segment between Baker and The CEO that aired on Dynamite: Beach Break.

Pepperman is not the head booker of the AEW women's division, but she is working with various wrestlers, not just Moné. She was praised internally for the Beach Break segment and has also received high marks for her work with Will Ospreay and Mark Briscoe.
