"Bro thinks she's The Rock," "Her ego is bigger than AEW itself" - Fans react to Mercedes Moné's recent comments about WWE

AEW and NJPW Strong have a dual champion in Mercedes Moné. The polarizing pro wrestler walked out of WWE RAW almost 800 days ago, and her departure was confirmed in late 2022. Moné is now receiving flak from fans due to viral comments she recently made about her former employer.

The former Sasha Banks of WWE had a big weekend at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. The 14-year veteran captured the TBS Championship in her AEW in-ring debut in late May and defended that title in a Winner Takes All match this past Sunday. Moné defeated Stephanie Vaquer at Forbidden Door and walked out with the TBS Championship and the NJPW Strong Women's Championship.

While promoting the pay-per-view, Moné spoke with WFAN and was asked if it was hard to give time to other projects while signed to WWE. The part-time actress claimed this had a lot to do with why she left WWE.

Moné claimed it was "like pulling teeth" to get WWE to approve time off for her to film Disney's Star Wars series, The Mandalorian. The inaugural WWE Women's Tag Team Champion began filming for the role of Koska Reeves in 2019 and has filmed five episodes over two seasons as of now. She noted that Tony Khan offered to provide anything she'd need, including the private jet if she needed to fly from filming in Los Angeles to wherever AEW is running.

Moné accused WWE of booking her on live event dates when she was to be filming the Disney+ series, adding that the company tried hard to keep her from doing the show. The 32-year-old said her situation with AEW is the exact opposite as she has all the time in the world to do acting and other projects.

The wrestling world has had a mixed bag of feedback towards Moné for the latest comments on her former employer. Many fans have seemingly knocked WWE's third Women's Grand Slam Champion, accusing her of having an ego. Check out a few of the reactions below:

"Lots of complaining from someone who got to do what she wanted anyways lmfao. I pray she's just playing a character because how could anyone genuinely like this person," wrote one fan.

While the majority of commenters had negative reactions, some did offer support for Mercedes due to disdain for WWE. Several fans accused her of leaving out key details, and others confessed their respect and admiration for the former NXT Women's Champion is waning. Below are a few more reactions:

"I love Mercedes…I do, but gotta be transparent. She has to be bitter at this point. If life is as amazing as she says she wouldn’t mention the oops as much as she does," one fan chimed in.
"This pains me to say this but I’ve lost all respect for Mercedes," commented another fan.

Mercedes Moné to celebrate on AEW Dynamite: Beach Break

All Elite Wrestling will present its 2024 Dynamite: Beach Break special tonight from Wintrust Arena in Chicago, IL. The episode will feature fallout from Forbidden Door.

AEW has announced a Double Championship Celebration for Moné on tonight's show. As the defending TBS Champion, she defeated Stephanie Vaquer in a Winner Takes All match at Sunday's pay-per-view to capture the NJPW Strong Women's Championship.

Britt Baker has also been announced for Dynamite. This is related to Moné as Baker made her return from a lengthy hiatus at Forbidden Door for a staredown with the dual champion after her big win. AEW announced that Baker will address fans on tonight's show.
