Veteran manager Dutch Mantell has claimed that former WWE World Champion Bryan Danielson might have turned down a big spot in AEW for a reason. The veteran also considered it ''strange!''

Bryan Danielson made his blockbuster AEW debut in 2021, and The American Dragon has been one of the top stars in the promotion since then. However, the former WWE Champion has yet to win the World Title in Tony Khan's company. The 43-year-old recently made it clear that he was not interested in becoming the world champion anymore.

Dutch Mantell recently shared his thoughts on Danielson refusing to become the AEW World Champion. Speaking on his Story Time with Dutch Mantell podcast, the veteran claimed that Danielson no longer wanted to handle the pressure of being the company's top guy.

"I don't think he [Bryan Danielson] wants to do it; I think he could do it, but he doesn't want that pressure on him; I don't blame him. So he's saying that he's turning it down and letting somebody else do it. 'I've had my time,' which I appreciate; 'I've had my time,' and he's still got a job at AEW anyway. So, it's not like he's turning it down; he doesn't have anything, but it is a strange thing to hear from somebody like Daniel Bryan,'' he said. [0:32-1:02]

WWE veteran says Bryan Danielson has a name

In the same episode, WWE veteran Dutch Mantell also explained how AEW could do something with Bryan Danielson despite the latter's reluctance to become the World champion.

"He is very good, but again, when he tells me the level of wrestling, the caliber of wrestling on this show was so high that all he could do was bring it down. I don't think he'd bring it down; he still does stuff that the other guys... I mean, people, at least he has a name, and they can do something with him," he added. [1:03-1:24]

Meanwhile, The American Dragon is set to square off against Hangman Adam Page in the finals of the ongoing Owen Hart Foundation Tournament on the July 10, 2024, edition of Dynamite. The winner will secure a World Title match at AEW All In 2024.
