AEW star Buddy Matthews has been signed to the company since 2022. He is a member of the House of Black faction, alongside Malakai Black (leader), Brody King, and Julia Hart. The star recently shared a cryptic message after losing to Adam Cole.
On the latest episode of Dynamite, Matthews locked horns with Adam Cole. The 35-year-old was sidelined throughout 2024 due to an injury. However, he made his highly anticipated return at the recent WrestleDream pay-per-view. The match between Cole and the Australian star was action-packed and hard-hitting. All Elite fans around the world seemingly enjoyed it. Cole took home the win and later shared a handshake with Matthews. The gesture was ultimately interrupted by Malakai Black.
Matthews recently posted a picture on Instagram of him shaking hands with Adam Cole, with a cryptic caption.
"Relighting fires within others, opening the eyes of the world, being overlooked in the shadows!"

Adam Cole hopes to win the AEW World Championship someday
On a recent appearance on the Stick to Wrestling podcast, Adam Cole opened up on his career, injuries, and his recent return. Interestingly, he stated that he hoped to become the company's world champion someday.
"Do I know for sure that I was going to be in line to becoming the AEW World Champion? I’m not totally sure. That’s certainly where it seemed like we were going. That’s certainly the direction I think, very possibly, could have happened had I not been injured, which really did add to the mental anguish of the entire process. There are constant roadblocks thrown in our way all the time. We have to adapt and pivot. I still have a lot of my wrestling career left, so I certainly hope the AEW World Title is in my future in the future," said Cole. [H/T Bodyslam.net]
Adam Cole is the longest-reigning NXT Champion of all time.
He is currently embroiled in a feud with MJF and needs to win three matches to get the chance to face him at Full Gear. It remains to be seen what the future holds for him.
