Chris Jericho challenged; "holy sh**" chants break out as surprise ex-WWE star suddenly arrives

A former WWE Superstar recently challenged AEW star Chris Jericho to a blockbuster match. The star who laid the challenge is Matt Cardona, one of the top stars in the industry right now.

The reigning ROH World Champion defeated Mark Briscoe in a ladder match on the October 23, 2024, edition of Dynamite. His first defense came a few days ago against Tomohiro Ishii. On the latest Dynamite episode, he claimed that his next challenger will be announced on the upcoming ROH episode.

On the December 5 edition of ROH, Chris Jericho appeared on 'TV Time' and waited for his opponent for the Final Battle pay-per-view. Matt Cardona answered the Learning Tree's challenge. His surprise Ring of Honor debut garnered a massive reaction from the crowd. Fans also chanted 'holy s**t' and 'always ready' upon his arrival.

Following the debut, the Deathmatch King confronted Chris Jericho and claimed to win the ROH World Championship at the Final Battle.

"Zack [Ryder] is dead. And you know my name, but if you wanna pretend you don't, that's fine, but you better learn it real fast. Because the name of the man that's gonna wrestle you at Final Battle at Hammerstein Ballroom, the name of the man that's going to beat you to become Ring of Honor World Champion, is Matt Cardona," he said.
