Chris Jericho revealed as the mastermind behind iconic WWE segment - "That was his idea"

Former WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens has revealed that Chris Jericho was the mastermind behind a memorable segment during their time together in the Stamford-based promotion. Jericho and Owens formed a popular duo in WWE from 2016 to 2017.

On the February 13, 2017, edition of WWE RAW, Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens had one of the most memorable segments in the promotion's history. Y2J hosted a segment called ''Festival of Friendship'' for KO. However, it ended with one of the most iconic betrayals when The Prizefighter destroyed The Learning Tree after putting the latter's name on The List of KO.

In the latest episode of WWE Retrospective on YouTube, Kevin Owens noted how the ''Festival of Friendship'' is appreciated by fans to this day. He revealed that the current AEW star was the mastermind behind the segment. KO dubbed it one of the most memorable segments in the past 15 years. He said:

"This is still something people talk about to this day. We put a lot of work into it; we put our minds into it; we thought about this specific segment for a long time. Chris [Jericho] was the one who wanted to make it like this Vegas spectacle. That was his idea. We had people in the back helping us, and it was a real collective effort to try to make this as memorable as possible, and it really worked. A lot of people to this day still talk about it as one of the most memorable moments of the last 10-15 years." [18:53-19:28]

Chris Jericho is the current ROH World Champion

Chris Jericho moved to AEW after leaving WWE in 2018. He became the first-ever world champion in the Jacksonville-based promotion. However, adding championships to his resume did not stop there.

In subsequent years, Y2J became the Ring of Honor World Champion and the FTW Champion in AEW. Jericho's second ROH World Title win came on the October 23, 2024, edition of Dynamite when he defeated Mark Briscoe in a Ladder War.

The Learning Tree will defend his title against Matt Cardona at the Final Battle PPV on December 20.
