Chris Jericho takes a massive dig at WWE - "We get much better care"

Chris Jericho has tried to make the most of his time in AEW. While he's become a controversial figure for many fans, the 53-year-old has never stopped waving the flag for the Jacksonville-based promotion. He recently explained some benefits he enjoys in All Elite Wrestling and compared them to the hardships of WWE.

AEW has done things differently since it was founded in 2019, bucking many of the trends and traditions established by other major wrestling promotions over the past few decades. This has gained the young company some criticism, but its core fanbase and much of its roster seem to appreciate the differences.

One of the major differences in AEW is that Tony Khan flies his talent in for television every week. Historically, wrestlers have "run the roads," usually driving hundreds of miles from show to show every week. Speaking to Neal Brennan, Chris Jericho described how much easier it is in All Elite Wrestling:

"When I was working in WWE, sometimes we worked Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and maybe even a Tuesday once in a while. That schedule was insane, absolutely crazy. Different city, different city, driving, renting your own cars, all that sort of stuff. When AEW started, that was one of the things: we only work on Wednesdays. Now we work Wednesdays and Saturdays, but still, it’s much better. Our boss, the Khan family, they also own the Jacksonville Jaguars and Fulham Football Club in England, so they treat us much more like an athletic team. We get much better care with hotels, cars, all that stuff is taken care of, which wasn’t the case in WWE."

Jericho compared the travel schedule to that of WWE's, noting that he used to have to pay for his rental car and travel expenses:

"That makes travel a lot easier. Plus, the fact that you’re only flying into one city, flying out the next day, is a lot better than flying to one city on a Friday, picking up a car, driving 250 miles somewhere on Saturday, then driving another 200 miles somewhere on Sunday, and driving somewhere else 250 miles to get there Monday, returning your car Tuesday in a city that’s like 15 freaking states from where you got it, and you gotta pay for it all." Former WWE Superstar thinks Chris Jericho's time in the ring is almost up

Despite the fact that he's a 53-year-old WWE legend, Chris Jericho has remained active as a full-time talent in AEW since its founding. However, former WWE Superstar Ryback thinks that The Ocho's next contract may be his last.

Fans have turned against Jericho in recent years, and he's currently leaning into the sentiment with his Learning Tree gimmick. Speaking on Ryback TV, Ryback speculated on Chris Jericho potentially transitioning to a backstage role if he re-signs with AEW:

"Is he better off looking at maybe going out, or is he trying to get one more contract and stretch this out another three years? I don't know. Maybe he is going to do everything he can to get it, and again, it is going to come down to what Tony, if Tony thinks that there is value and maybe they do come to a deal and it's not going to be a main event if you wanna continue and maybe it is transitioning to more of a backstage presence. I don't know."

Chris Jericho, Big Bill, and Jeff Cobb suffered a major defeat at last week's Forbidden Door pay-per-view. Whether The Ocho begins winding down his in-ring career remains to be seen.
