Christian Cage competed in a huge match at AEW Double or Nothing 2024, but unfortunately, he wasn't able to walk out with the World Championship. The Patriarch has now addressed his failure on social media.

This year's Double or Nothing pay-per-view boasted a triple main event, with the AEW World Championship match sandwiched between Mercedes Mone vs. Willow Nightingale and the Anarchy in the Arena bout between The New Elite and Team AEW. Christian Cage went blow-for-blow with Swerve Strickland but fell to the champion in the end.

Many fans have wondered what's next for the 50-year-old legend now that he's lost both his TNT Championship and his bid for the world title. It seems that Christian isn't abandoning his quest for the throne, as he took to X (formerly Twitter) with a bold declaration today:

"I WILL be World Heavyweight Champion #ThePatriarch," wrote Cage.

This was Christian's second attempt to claim the AEW World Championship. His first bid also failed when he lost to then-champ Kenny Omega at All Out 2021.

Christian Cage responds to praise from Swerve Strickland after AEW Double or Nothing 2024

Christian Cage and his Patriarchy brutalized AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland in the lead-up to Double or Nothing 2024. In the end, however, he wasn't able to overcome the champion.

Swerve Strickland praised Christian Cage at the media scrum following the pay-per-view, noting the veteran's experience and his mind for the business. However, Strickland noted that he remains All Elite Wrestling's best-ever signing.

The Patriarch sent a message seemingly in response to the champion's statements, claiming that Strickland doesn't make as much money as he does.

"He just don't make as much," wrote Christian.

It's unclear where Christian and The Patriarchy will go from here. With the return of Gangrel and Adam Copeland's Brood persona last night, many fans are hoping to see Christian reunite with his friend and rival. Whether the two join forces for a final tag team run remains to be seen.
