Claudio Castagnoli is one of the strong allies of Jon Moxley's Death Riders faction in AEW. However, ahead of his huge showdown against Moxley's former protege, Claudio unleashed a surprise assault to make a statement.
The star in question here is Shota Umino. As it has been announced, Claudio Castagnoli and Shota Umino are set to collide at the upcoming NJPW Wrestle Dynasty event. It will take place on January 5, 2025, at the Tokyo Dome.
The opponents met at a recent presser event to promote the event. During the same, Castagnoli claimed that Jon Moxley had sent him from AEW to teach a lesson to his former protege.

In a heated exchange that followed, Castagnoli got in Umino's face and launched a surprise assault on him, taking him down in the process.

Before the brawl broke out between Shota Umino and Claudio Castagnoli at the presser, the former stated that he was rather focused on his big title match the night prior. Shota is set to battle Zack Sabre Jr. for the IWGP World Heavyweight Title at Wrestle Kingdom 19.
Umino claimed that the match against Castagnoli could turn into a title match if he beats Sabre Jr. Moreover, he seemed laser-focused on making the former Swiss Superman understand the position of NJPW as the world's top wrestling promotion.
