AEW has reached an impressive milestone on social media. The promotion has been on a roll recently, putting on great television shows on a weekly basis ahead of its upcoming pay-per-view.
Since its foundation in 2019, AEW has emerged as one of the leading pro wrestling companies in the US, fostering budding talent and established stars from across the globe. The promotion celebrated its fifth anniversary earlier this year with the 2024 iteration of Double or Nothing. It also presented the 250th episode of its flagship show, Dynamite, on July 17, 2024. Furthermore, the company will return to London later this month for this year's edition of All In in Wembley Stadium.
All Elite Wrestling CEO Tony Khan has repeatedly insisted that his promotion is in a strong position amid ongoing media rights talks with its broadcasting partner, Warner Bros. Discovery. The 41-year-old executive recently teased a potentially positive update on the negotiations. Now, fans have discovered that the Jacksonville-based company has attained another major accomplishment on social media.
It was recently revealed on X/Twitter that AEW's official X profile has registered a million followers. A screenshot of the same made the rounds on the social networking platform.
Al Snow thinks Tony Khan signing Shane McMahon to AEW will help its media rights negotiations
The wrestling world has been rife with conjecture after Shane McMahon confirmed his meeting with Tony Khan sometime earlier. Numerous fans have shared their excitement regarding the prospect of The Prodigal Son appearing in AEW, speculating on the roles he could play in the company.
Wrestling veteran Al Snow recently shared his two cents on the matter. He claimed that McMahon was unlikely to pen a deal with All Elite Wrestling for the sake of money—arguing that he did not need it—but that he was likely to sign with the promotion for fun and to wrestle instead.
He also suggested that signing McMahon would provide the company with a leg-up in their media rights talks with Warner Bros. Discovery.
"Shane's not gonna do it for the money. He don't [sic] need money. Let's face it. But he'll do it because he wants to be Shane McMahon. He wants to have fun. He wants to go out there and wrestle. If Shane were to come on board, that would, without a question or a doubt, that would help AEW's cause to not only re-sign with Warner Discovery but re-sign at the same rate or greater because of Shane McMahon and his presence," Snow said.
Considering the undeniable appeal of a figure of Shane-O-Mac's caliber joining the All Elite roster, it remains to be seen if TK will bring McMahon over to his promotion soon.
