A legendary star just received a major accolade for his iconic career. As a result, Sting sent his heartfelt wishes on social media.
Steve McMichael is a legendary professional football player who accomplished a lot during his illustrious career. McMichael played as a defensive tackle for 15 seasons and was best known for his time with the Chicago Bears. He won the Super Bowl 20 and was a two-time First-Team All-Pro.
Steve is known for his love of professional wrestling and was previously involved in WWE, WCW, and even TNA. Currently, Steve is going through a tough time as he has been hospitalized with ALS. The neurological disease has left him bedridden. Given his career accomplishments, Steve was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Goldberg reached out to Sting to be a part of a "farewell thing"
Goldberg and The Icon have a history due to their time together in WCW. However, Goldberg wasn't involved in The Icon's farewell tour. But that doesn't mean he wasn't interested.
During a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, Goldberg mentioned that he reached out to The Icon to do a "farewell thing" but nothing came of it.
"I don't think I was ever close to making a deal with him. I think it was much more a realistic transition when Sting was involved. I reached out to Sting because I wanted to be a part. I thought he and I could do a farewell thing at some point together. But it wasn't about me. It was about Sting, and I could never overshadow anything that he does. But I don't want to convolute the waters. It would have been a nice crescendo, but it wasn't about me." [H/T: chrisvanvliet.com]
It would have been fun to see Goldberg get involved in The Icon's retirement match at AEW Revolution.
