Jon Moxley and Darby Allin finally came face to face on this week's episode of AEW Dynamite. The former had been trying to speak to Allin for the past few weeks. Fans learned the reason for this on Wednesday.
In an unsettling segment, The Lunatic Fringe demanded the former TNT Champion hand him his AEW World Championship opportunity. Allin was initially going to face Bryan Danielson for the title at Grand Slam 2024. However, the plans have changed. The American Dragon is not 100% because Moxley choked him out using a plastic bag at All Out. Hence, his participation in the show is up in the air.
When Moxley put forth his demand before Allin, the latter was deeply upset. The enraged 31-year-old then unhesitantly asked the former WWE Champion if he had started drinking because the things he was saying were not making sense.
"Did you not hear what I said? Have you been drinking again?" said Allin.
Corey Graves deleted his Tweet! More details HERE.
The interaction between the two men shocked fans, as they were not expecting the face-painted star to attack Moxley's demons. Nevertheless, it made for a memorable moment, and the reactions it received on X/Twitter were riveting.
Some fans loved Allin's 'savage' promo and praised him for delivering an entertaining segment alongside Moxley.
For those unaware, Jon Moxley struggled with alcoholism in the past. However, he has seemingly been clean since his return in January 2022. At Grand Slam, Moxley will battle Darby Allin in a singles match. If the former triumphs, he will receive Allin's AEW World Championship opportunity.
When Darby Allin was starting his career, he wanted to be like Jon Moxley
In a passionate promo on Dynamite, Darby Allin revealed that Moxley was his hero when he started his pro wrestling career. Allin added that he wanted to be just like the former SHIELD member.
"My first year in wrestling, I looked for a hero. Every time I found that person, they showed me how fake they were. They showed me that their dignity could be bought, but not you, Jon, and that’s when I knew I wanted to be just like you," said Allin.
It remains to be seen whether Allin will become AEW World Champion before 2024 ends.
