AEW star Darby Allin recently provided an update on a certain second-generation wrestler who is currently undergoing training for a potential career in the industry. He mentioned how the goal was to help him make a name for himself.
It has almost been a year since Sting retired from the industry for good. His sons Garrett and Steven even played a part in his final match, and it seems that he has passed down the torch, with the latter looking to follow in his father's footsteps. As of now, Steven is being trained by several well-known names in the business.
Darby Allin is one of them and in an interview on Fightful's Down Under the Ring podcast, he mentioned how they were taking their time in his training. He noted how they wanted to take it slow and help him put in the work before his in-ring debut.
"Steven, his son is actually training a lot. Time is of the essence with that one. You don't want to rush anybody because if you rush somebody in there, they're all, ‘Oh, that was a favor for Sting.’ We all want, when Steven steps foot in the ring for the first time, we all want to be like, ‘Okay, he worked for this. He deserves this.’"
Allin also talked about some insights he gained by training and working with Sting. He also talked about the kind of relationship he had with The Icon both in and out of the ring.
"Just to be humble and grateful for everything. Don't believe the hype. Don't get an ego because the wrestling world is going to chew you up and spit you out. At the end of the day, when the 15-minute ride is over, you want to look in the mirror and know who you're looking at. He's the greatest dude ever. Just he, just how he led outside of the ring is bigger than how he led inside of it." [H/T - Fightful]
Darby Allin is out of action due to Jon Moxley and the Death Riders
In AEW currently, Darby Allin has emerged as one of the biggest thorns on the sides of Jon Moxley and the Death Riders. He has been vocal about wanting to take them down and whether on his own or with others' help, he has put these words into action and has constantly gone after the group.
Mox has decided to take matters into his own hands, as they recently targeted Allin. On Rampage almost two weeks ago, footage was shown of the group assaulting him backstage and leaving him high and dry.
A few days ago on Collision, Cope provided an update on his friend, and he revealed that he was out for the foreseeable future. In his stead, The Rated-R Superstar was looking to get retribution for his close friends who had been taken out by the group. It remains to be seen when Darby Allin will be seen again.
